The Secretary-General makes a request
On February 4th, after his office reviewed the new evidence submitted to it in October by the
Hammarskjöld Commission, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon formally requested the General Assembly to reopen its inquiry into Dag Hammarskjöld's death in a suspicious air crash in central Africa. The issue was last considered by the UN in 1962. This is quite stunning news. The GA's discussions will be well worth following. The Secretary-General's request to the General Assembly is published at
www.un.org.
